Urban Context surrounds on all 3 sides
Interruption was started by creating collages that examined figure, ground, form, and field relationships. Through those, the concept of breaking up obvious and often linear circulation patterns emerged, creating a fragmented built form system that guides circulation and creates spaces for microclimates.
The site preforms as both commercial and residential, leading to a privacy gradient with the most private being towards the back of the site. There is both short term and long term residences, with their own private outdoor spaces.
The commercial aspect is a theatre and function space that is linked by the central gathering space. The function space also connects to an outdoor courtyard with a water feature that enables an extension to its threshold.
The changes in levels creates an interruption not only in the plan but in the section as well, ensuring that when walking through the site you must change levels.
Interruption aims to disrupt the regular pattern of movement through spaces, through its forms create microclimates that enable interactions and enable agency to the users for its program.
